MTV Games announced that the second installment of the popular "Rock Band" game will be released in September and will be initially exclusive to Xbox 360.  Like the original Rock Band, the game is being developed by the MTV-owned Harmonix games studio who also developed Guitar Hero. Details of the product will be announced at E3 in Los Angeles later this month but the developers have announced an unusual twist - it will be fully compatible with the original instruments, as well as the more than 100 songs that were available to download for the first "Rock Band so they have will be competing on more than the typical game planned obsolescence.

In the original Rock Star, players can select are guitar, bass, drums or vocals as they hit the road as either an aspiring superstar solo act, or for the first time in game genre history take on the true collaborative and challenging nature of music as they form a band and jam together in multiplayer action from home or around the world.  Either way players will have to master their stage presence through the various game modes and polish their rock chops via the unrivaled Rock Band song list if they hope to make it out of the garage, into the clubs and finally on to the main stage.  Rock Band is a natural extension of the passion for Guitar Hero - and you know that there are lots of fanatics out there!

Motivatrix’s MX9 Workout Machine

Inspired by games such as Dance Dance Revolution and the Nintento Wii,  the Motivatrix is a hybrid exercise / gaming machine. In an effort to replace boring traditional workout machines such as the elliptical or stationary bike, the MX9 Workout Master takes the general design of a Dance Dance Revolution arcade machine, and infuses it into a new generation of workout machines. The MX9 has built in arm sensors so it can see your arms flailing about and sensors under your feet so it can pick up on your fancy footwork.  You can even jam out to your own music on the MX9 although it comes preloaded with some tunes of its own. Probably the most interesting feature of the MX9 is the machines ability to connect to the Internet so people can compete against each other virtually, kind of like a fitness version of Xbox Live.   Source: Engadget

Worlds Largest Video Game Store

video game store.jpg

What at first looks like a shady black warehouse from the outside is really one of the, if not the largest video game store on earth.  The store carries everything from your average PS2 and Xbox 360 games to retro games and even anime.  It’s really a sight to behold so we will just let the following pictures do the rest of the talking. Where is this little slice of heaven on earth you ask?  We will never tell. via Shoganai

Nintendo Wii/DS May Have IM capabilities

wii-im1.jpg

Nintendo announced on Wednesday that the Wii and DS will have connectivity capabilities.  This will turn the DS into a controller for the Wii as well and allow you to view your DS games on your TV.  In the past Nintendo has embraced connectivity between portables and their consoles so this doesn’t come as much surprise.  What does come as a surprise however is that this opens the door for a patent that has been approved recently that includes an instant messaging system with a fully customizable user profile, contact list, in-game messaging, and proprietary e-mail functionality for the DS and Wii. Nintendo always seems to have another trick up their sleeves.  Via Ubergizmo

The Ultimate Racing Experience with the HotSeat Racer GT

hotseat21.jpg

We’ve been playing some Gran Turismo 4 recently and when we ran across this we just had to share it. The HotSeat Racer GT is designed to put you in the race car and features a racing seat, pedals, a wheel, and comes with High Powered Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS ready with 5 Satelite speakers plus a powered subwoofer so you can hear the sweet of Ferrari’s as they pass you. The HotSeat Racer GT also comes with an optional TV mount and works with all video game consoles. Unfortunately the chair isn’t guaranteed to stop you from running into walls and spinning out uncontrollably like we often do. Via ubergizmo
