UK Building Flying Saucer for the US Army

The U.S. Army is working on a flying saucer prototype that will be made by the British. They awarded the contract to develop this UFO hovering machine to the British company JLN Labs.  It appears like this UFO shaped flying craft will act as a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and provide security at bases and possibly tactical roles on the battlefield as well. The design for the craft is innovative and based on an aeronautical principle called Coanda Effect. The saucer measures about 4ft in diameter and the designers are working on optimizing the power, the control system and payload. Check out the video below: Source: OhGizmo

Hillcrest Labs Unique Loop Remote

Hillcrest Labs has developed a unique controller for electronic devices called "The Loop". The Loop features a lightweight organic design and has two buttons with a scroll wheel, much like a computer mouse. The remote was developed so the user can hold the remote at any angle relative to screen and the pointer will still be there. For example it will move up on the screen, if your moving it up, whether you are holding the controller upside down, upright regularly, sideways or on angles. Hillcrest did a demonstration with this on an Intel VIIV reference computer hooked up to a HDTV. Check out the video below. Source: PCMAG, Gizmodo

Bizarre Hexagon Spotted on Saturn

This is one of the most bizarre weather patterns ever seen, the six-sided feature is circling the north pole of Saturn. Planets that have an atmosphere usually have a coil of clouds at the poles, but this cloud formation appears to be in the shape of a hexagon. The bizarre part is that the hexagon has smooth edges and the sides are the same length. NASA has seen this before with the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft, and now they are witnessing it again with Cassini. Scientists say it is a long-lasting oddity. The hexagon is just about 15,000 miles across, which means about four Earth’s could fit in inside it. Thermal imagery from Cassini enables scientests to see that the hexagon goes down into the clouds about 60 miles. Saturn also had a one-eyed storm in November 2006 at the southern end of the planet. Rocket Belt Jetpack

The jetpack is back! At first it was Skywalker Jets with their jetpack, now Tecnologia Aeroespacial Mexicana have developed a "Rocket Belt". At first glance it looks more like a backpack then a belt. The rocket belt has been fully tested and is based on Military research done in the 1960s. The Military abandoned the project however because they found out it can only hold enough fuel to fly for 20 seconds. You can’t get much combat action during just 20 seconds of flight. If you have $250,000 laying around then you can own one of these Rocket Belts, but don’t worry your quarter million dollar rocket belt comes with maintenance, flight training and 24/7 expert support!

Scientists Create Sheep thats Part Human

Scientists at the University of Nevada have successfully created the worlds first sheep that is part human. The sheep is made up of 15% human cells, and 85% animal cells however it has human organs. If this technique can be perfected it may make mass organ harvesting possible. This could be accomplished by extracting stem cells from a donors blood, and then injecting them directly into a sheep fetus. Then when the sheep is born, it has human organs which could be used for transplants into humans. Anyone remember that Michael Bay movie…The Island? Yeaahhh…

Touchless Touch Screen

The touchless touch screen sounds like it would be nice and easy, however after closer examination it looks like it could be quite a workout. This unique screen is made by TouchKo, White Electronics Designs, and Groupe 3D. The screen resembles the Nintendo Wii without the Wii Controller. With the touchless touch screen your hand doesn’t have to come in contact with the screen at all, it works by detecting your hand movements in front of it. This is a pretty unique and interesting invention, until you break out in a sweat. Now this technology doesn’t compare to the hologram-like IO2 Technologies Heliodisplay M3, but thats for anyone that has $18,100 laying around. You probably wont see this screen in stores any time soon. Check out the videos of this in action below. Source: Crave
