display3d_big.jpg

Toms Hardware has a written probably the most comprehensive and detailed article yet on Windows Vista.  In 500 hours they explored almost every aspect of the new operating system. They conclude "Microsoft’s new Vista is surprisingly entertaining. The new look of the operating system is good, and lets it outshine its Linux and Mac OS competitors. One notices repeatedly while working with this software that Microsoft scoped out its competition very carefully."  You can read it over at Toms Hardware.

Exploring the Dell XPS M2010

dell.jpg

The Dell XPS M2010 is a top of the line home entertainment PC that appears to be the first of its kind. Dell’s radical design for the XPS M2010 feels like a step in the right direction. Its compact notebook like case contains more power than most top of the line PC’s and the monitor is able to fold down to make the PC easy to transport. Its space conscientious sleek design compliments any desk it sits on. The XPS M2010 contains an Intel Dual Core processor and can boost up to 4 GB RAM as well as up 240GB storage on dual hard drives. This is one of the most impressive PC designs I’ve seen in a long time, and I really hope the high end price (starting at $4000) doesn’t prevent it from taking off. More details at Dell.com

Your Very Own Ferrari on Your Desk

pb1128163590.jpg
When we first heard about the new Ferrari notebooks we were skeptical that it was probably just another brand-name gimmick. However the new 5000 and 1000 Dual Core models really pack a punch, maybe not as much as a real Enzo, but for a laptop their horsepower is pretty impressive. The Ferrari-Acer 5000 includes an AMD Turion 64 X2 processor, 15.4 inch LCD screen, a 160gb hard drive, and an HD DVD drive when they become available. The Ferrari-Acer 1000 is just a smaller version of the 5000 sporting a 12.1 inch screen. The carbon fiber casing really gives both models a sleek, sexy look that wouldn’t be complete without the Ferrari logo placed on the front. Check it out over at Acer’s website, via Gizmodo

The First Experimental Fusion Reactor

REACTOR2B1.jpg

Expected to cost up to 10 billion Euros the ITER Experimental Fusion Reactor will be the first of its kind.  With the growing costs of fossil fuels and the worlds demand for clean energy, fusion power is a very promising technology.  Fusion with works by joining two hydrogen atoms into a helium atom ( basically the opposite way that current fission nuclear reactors works) which creates a tremendous amount of heat and steam which is used to power turbines.  Producing the energy that could be generated by fusion is almost impossible with fossil fuels. With just 1 kg of fuel a fusion reactor can generate more energy than a fossil fuel plant could with 10,000,000kg of fuel.   Located in Southern France, the ITER Experimental Fusion Reactor is expected to break ground in 2007, and could be operational by 2040.  Read more here
